Reviews
In this interesting and well written book the author puts forth his hypothesis as to why we are seemingly the only ones in the universe. He talks about what it takes to go from life to civilization. For me reading about how everything had to be so precise and happen in just the right way at just the right time makes me even more convinced of an intelligent designer behind it all
This fascinating book takes a deep look at why we haven't found any signs of aliens even though the universe is so incredibly huge. It explains that building a high-tech world like ours requires a lot of lucky breaks with energy sources that might not happen on other planets. I found it really interesting to think about how things like coal and oil were actually necessary steps for humans to reach the stars. It makes you realize just how special and lucky our life on Earth really is compared to the rest of the dark, silent galaxy.
This is part science and part philosophy but totally interesting. It adds a completely new possibility as to the reason why we haven’t seen aliens - maybe we just got lucky with our planet.
This is truly an interesting look at how we came to be, as a planet and as humans, as the author presents the Adair Hypothesis. With this, he shows how we go from being simply life forms into a bigger civilization. The book really made me think about if humans just lucked out or is there something else out there that we've just missed so far?!
This was such a fascinating book about why the author believes we are the only civilized culture on the planet and why we don’t see aliens. Civilization is not common and it takes a lot of demands, energy, efforts, and more to get to that point. A very interesting philosophical look at why we don’t see aliens backed by science.
Complex and unique evolution of earth civilizations are explored here. Out of the infinite number of planets and galaxies our species is explored for it's speed of technological advancement. To be honest I think extra terrestrials are capable of this achievement but given our uniqueness I understand the author's fantastic linear arguments.
This book was eye opening and fascinating. Author explores the history of our earth and solar system and brings to our attention the many layers of events and resources that have built and created this planet. It made me think of the book long after I finished it, speculating how we became the advanced civilization that we are with the either very lucky set of coincidences that brought us energy or was it diving intervention? Read the book and decide for yourself.
